Presented by: General Electric / GE Access Division
Keeney Design was given the assignment to provide architectural services, including programming, space planning and interior design, as well as project management that included coordination of all consultants for the relocation of the GE Access headquarters facility. The project involved consolidating business units that had been located in five buildings in Boulder Colorado into a new facility located in 135,000 square feet of office space in a new building in the Westmoor Technology Park in Westminster Colorado. A 20,000 square foot sales floor remained in Boulder until 2006, due to lease term considerations, requiring fiber-optic, satellite and microwave connectivity between the two facilities.
The entire project, from data gathering and space planning through move-in was completed in 6 months. The project had to be fast-tracked to meet real estate lease obligations, and the move of several hundred employees from five buildings into the new facility occurred over one weekend. The project includes a 5000 square foot data center, employee café, state-of-the-art teleconferencing facilities, UPS power system, dual utility grid connectivity, and an emergency generator. The project was completed on schedule and within budget with no down time for the operation that was generating revenue of $1M per hour.
